On Thursday, March 28, 2019, the pilot course Strategic communication in the context of security and defence was organized by the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations of the National School of Political and Administrative Studies (SNSPA), the Center for EU Communication Studies and the Conflict Intervention Institute Edward M. Kennedy (Maynooth, National University of Ireland) under the auspices of the European Defense and Security College. LARICS Director, Dan Dungaciu, together with Alina Bârgăoanu, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations, SNSPA & Coordinator of the course, Ramona Mănescu – MEP, debated the main points of the European Union’s foreign and security policy as well as the role played by strategic communication in the new technology-dominated ecosystem and influenced by competition between major global actors, intensive digitization, proliferation of online disinformation, and diminishing confidence in public institutions.
